Effects of Losartan on Kidney and Liver possible damage with diabetic rats

Project no. 1100 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017

Summary

Diabetes is a metabolic disease that affects many tissues and organs negatively, resulting in excessive elevation of blood glucose levels. It is one of the important problems of today with its high rate of mortality and morbidity and increasing prevalence. Diabetes is a disease that adversely affects the liver and kidney structure as well as the disruption of many tissues and organs. Many studies have shown that diabetes has negative effects on liver and kidney tissue in Streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rat models. In addition to the antihypertensive effects of losartan, several studies have shown positive effects in different disease models. Losartan is an Angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker. Especially in patients with diabetes and hypertension, diabetic nephropathy is very preferred because of its delaying effect. In our study, we investigated the possibility that STZ (50mg / kg) induced diabetic rats could be corrected by using different doses of losartan in the liver and kidney. For this purpose, 5 different experimental groups were formed. These groups included control, diabetic control, diabetic group with low dose losartan, diabetic group with medium dose losartan and diabetic group with high dose losartan. The liver and kidney tissues were analyzed by iNOS, eNOS, NFkB, VEGF and TUNEL immunohistochemical expressions and SOD and MDA biochemical analyzes.
