DETERMINATION OF SOME WALNUT GENOTYPES GROWN UNDER SAME ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

Project no. 965 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Walnut contains high fat and protein, fort this reason it is very nutritive. The most important characteristic of walnut oil is the abundance of unsaturated fatty acids. Contents of walnut kernel changed with the varieties. Besides climatic conditions, soil characterstics and cultural practices are affected to contents of kernel. In this study, fatty fractions of fruits of different walnut genotypes grown under the same climatic conditions were investigated. Linoleic acid was the highest in all genotypes. Oleic acid was second and linolenic acid was third, with a few exceptions. The first three fatty acids are all unsaturated acids. Average linoleic acid values ranged between 51.26% and 67.64% according to the average of two years. On the other hand, oleic acid and linolenic acid contents ranged between 10.66% and 30.33% and between 8,25% and 16,93 %, respectively.
