Soil-Plant Heavy Metal Relationships in Oriental Tobacco Plant

Project no. 997 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

In this study conducted in Adıyaman province, some basic characteristics of oriental tobacco cultivated soils and tobacco leaves were tried to be determined. For this purpose, a total of 50 soil and plant samples were taken and analyzed at Ege University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. According to the results of the analysis, most of the soils are slightly alkaline. In all soils, high amounts of available Ca determined. Total Ni (max.1462 mg / kg) and Cr (max. 290 mg / kg) values were found to be high in soil. However, the available Ni and Cr contents of the soils were low. No problems were detected in the heavy metal contents of the plant samples. Significant relationships were determined between heavy metal contents of tobacco leaf samples and soil pH, organic matter, lime and soil particle size distribution. No significant relationship was found between Cl, raw ash and soil characteristics of tobacco quality parameters. Significant relationships were found between nicotine, total reducing sugar and soil pH, salinity, lime and soil particle size distribution.
