Summary

The aim of the study is to compare the methods and models utilized within the scope of Classical Test and Item Response Theories statistically. In the method section of the study, Sport Specific Self Report Measure of Identity Foreclosure scale and Athletic Identity Measurement Scales-Third Generation(AIMS-3G) and were applied to 654 students studying at Cumhuriyet, Giresun, Dokuz Eylül, Ege, Kütahya Dumlupınar, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Sport Sciences. The obtained data were analyzed with different statistical package programs according to Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Grade Response Model(GRM) methods. As a result of the Classical Test Theory (CTT) reliability analysis, the Cronbach's alpha value of the Sport Specific Self Report Measure of Identity Foreclosure scale was found to be 0.936, and the Cronbach's alpha value of the Athletic Identity Measurement Scales-Third Generation(AIMS-3G) scale was found to be 0.968. Cronbach alpha values of sub-dimensions were also found to be above 0.80. According to these results, it was determined that both scales had high reliability levels. For each factor of both scales, it was seen that the item parameters had high discrimination values in Samejima's (1969) Grade Response Model (GRM) solutions (4.46 ± 2.19; 3.25 ± 1.07). As a result, it can be said that the items of both scales had high discrimination, the item parameters gave similar results with both theories, and both scales were valid and reliable.

Keywords: Classical Test Theory, Graded Response Model, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Wright Map
