Muscle degenerations in broilers: Effect of incubation temperature

Project no. 21114 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020

Summary

Muscle degeneration has become one of the important problems of the broiler industry. The purpose of this project, which is submitted to BAP, is to investigate the temperature manipulation during the incubation period on embryonic development and expression of genes that effect muscle fiber type, lipid oxidation and lipid accumulation on 19 d of incubation, on the day of the hatch, and at slaughter age. The samples were collected from the E.Ü.BAP project numbered 2RF-025 in 2018. Myozenin 2 (MYOZ2), Glutathione Peroxidase 7 (GPX7) and Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Gamma (PPARγ) gene expression will be examined in breast muscle (pectoralis major) of two commercial broiler chicken lines on the 19th day of embryonic development, at hatching and from slaughter of chickens. In addition, nutritional analysis will be performed to determine the dry matter, ash, protein and fat content of the breast muscle at slaughter age. The project aimed to determine the effect of incubation temperature on breast muscle characteristics of broiler chickens at different ages.
