A RESEARCH ON THE USE OF NATURAL FIBERS AS REİNFORCEMENT MATERİALS IN COMPOSITE PRODUCTION
Project no. 1073 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015
Summary
Compositematerials, due to the advantages they provide and the diversity in their application areas, are finding increasing application areas with each passing day. Composite materials can be used in many different fields such as automotive, electronics, aerospace, sports equipment and construction. There are two main components that make up the composite material. These are the matrix and reinforcing element. Theuse of naturalfibers as a reinforcing element in composite materials is rapidly increasing due to the increasing demand due to increased environmental awareness and legal regulations. In the production of natural fiber-reinforced composites, bast fibers, fruit and leaf fibers, as well as animal fibers, are generally used in the class of cellulosic vegetable fibers. Biological degradability and recyclability properties of natural fibers used as reinforcement materials, low density, high specifics trength values, as well as ecological materials are evolving due to the renewability of natural resources of plant and animal origin. Technological developments in the production and design of fiber reinforced composite materials, decrease in production cost, improvement in systeme fficiency and reliability, and the ability of the material to be molded into different shapes prevented the disadvantages such as cutting and shaping the metal, making these structures candidates for replacing metals in many applications. In this context, meltblown surfaces produced by thermoplastic biodegradable polymer and biodegradable/gren composites under hot pressure were produced by producing needling nonwoven textile surface from natural fibers. The properties of the obtained composite materials were examined by physical and mechanical tests.
