Summary
<p>The tradition of <em>ashık</em> has an important place in Turkish culture. In addition to the folk literature genres and forms like <em>koşma</em>, <em>taşlama</em>,<em> ashık</em>s also performed the texts of classical culture and called <em>ghazel or diwan</em>. Today, the tradition of <em>ashık</em>, like many of our cultural values, is in danger of extinction. In order to revive this tradition and protect its products, the tradition of <em>ashık</em> was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009, with the effort of our UNESCO National Commission. In this project, the lyrics based on the classical texts read by the gazelhans of the <em>ashık </em>tradition were determined and repaired as much as possible. The classical texts on which the identified lyrics are based were also found from divans, <em>mecmua</em> and added after the lyrics. These texts, most of which are ghazals performed by <em>ashık</em>s, are not limited to what we have given here, they are the first examples and determinations for future studies.</p>
