Summary
Distribution of discard ratios in trawl fishery of Aegean Sea is an important issue for Turkish fishery statistics. Because of lots of reason, some commercial species are discarded, some discarded species are commerciliazed. In this study, the reasons and amounts of discarded commercial species were investigated. While the injuried fish bodies (during the trawl hauls) and few amounts are catch are some of discarded reasons for fishermen, the most important reason is the market prices not coveriring cost expenses.
