Summary

In this study, the effects of different rehabilitation materials for cold joints on compressive strength, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of concrete were studied. Latex, epoxy and cold joint nail were used for rehabilitation. Experimental samples were 150x150x150 mm cubes for compressive strength, 100x100x600 prismatic samples for flexural strength, and 150x300mm cylinder samples for modulus of elasticity tests, respectively. C30/37 class concrete was designed for testing and C50/60 class concrete was designed for modification in this study. Latex, epoxy and cold joint nails have been used in rehabilitation combinations. Concrete casting has been completed by applying rehabilitation materials to the cold joint interface in cold jointed samples.

According to data obtained from experimental studies, cold joint nailed samples had the highest strength. The compressive and flexural strength of the samples rehabilitated by cold joint nails are higher than the strength of the control samples. Additionally, no significant differences in strength was observed between different amounts of the cold joint nails. Due to their internal structure and mechanical properties, it is observed that latex and epoxy rehabilitated samples have lower strength compared to control samples in the rehabilitation studies. While structural rehabilitation was analysed by SEM and stereoscopic images, it is observed that the formation of micro cracks in the cold joint interface has negatevily affected the rehabilitation.
