Project no. 21583 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020
Summary
The concept of emotion regulation has been defined in the literature many years ago, and it has been studied by researchers with many different features and different methods of study. It is seen that emotional regulation difficulties and the relationship between emotion regulation strategies and psychopathology take up a large place in the literature especially in clinical psychology researches. For all that, especially in recent researches, the researchers brought the concept of state emotion regulation to the literature and emphasized the importance of the relationship between emotion regulation and context. In order to better measure this structure, researchers have begun to develop state emotion regulation scales with substances that sensitive to context. State Emotion Regulation Inventory (SERI) and State-Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (S-DERS) are examples of these scales. These scales, which have started to be used in research abroad, have not yet adapted to Turkish. This study was carried out to adapt these two scales to Turkish and then to examine the psychometric properties of these scales. In the study, the participants first filled in the scales measuring their trait-based emotion regulation skills. Then, a mood induction stage was carried out with the autobiographical memory writing method, following the participants filled the scales translated into Turkish. In the study, 167 undergraduate students participated. Exploratory and confirmatory factor anaysis, analysis for criterion-related validity, and reliability anaysis were conducted. As a result of the analysis, it was decided that the Turkish forms of the scales are utilizable. These scales adapted to Turkish are thought to make an important contribution to state emotion regulation research.
