THE EFFECT OF POST ACTIVATION POTENTIATION ON IMPACT FORCES, MUSCLE ACTIVATIONS AND GROUND REACTION FORCES IN TAEKWONDO DOLLYEO CHAGI PERFORMANCE
Project no. 688 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
Objective: Increase the acute performance in taekwondo can be an effective method to win a matches. One of the most used techniques in Taekwondo matches is dollyeo chagi. In this study aims to investigate the effect of post-activation potentiation on impact forces, muscle activation and ground reaction forces applied to the ground in dollyeo chagi performance. Method: 14 elite male taekwondo athletes (20.28±3.60 years, height 177.21±8.90 cm weight 70.15±14.47 kg) participated in the study. Maximal voluntary isometric contraction test was applied to rectus femoris and biceps femoris muscles to evaluate evaluate surface electromygraphic datas after Anthropometric measurements and body composition of each participant. The athletes performed 3 sets of repetitive plyometric jump exercises to create potentiation after activation. Each athlete 3 dollyeo chagi techniques before and after application of plyometric exercises protocol. During the preparation, flight and contact phase of the Dollyeo chagi technique, the forces applied to the ground and the impact force of the kick were measured with load cells, and superficial electromyographic data were measured with the Biopac Bionomadix device. Throughout the contact phase, the kick was recorded with a camera and the knee angle data at the point where the force data was highest were analyzed with the kinovea program SPSS 20 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. The normal distribution of data was tested by Shapiro Wilks. Paired sample t-test was used to analyze the data and the effect size was calculated. The statistical level of the data p<.05 was accepted. Results: Significant differences were found in the parameters of the rectus femoris muscle in the forefoot (p <.05) and contact phase in the flight phase of the kick after the PAP exercise protocol (p <.05). In Dollyeo chagi technique, it was observed that there was no significant difference (p> .05) in preparation, flight and contact phases, and low and medium effect sizes were observed in many parameters. Conclusion: Plyometric jump exercises with a weight vest before taekwondo matches can help improve kick performance.
