The Development of Electromagnetic Shielding Knitted Fabrics

Project no. 21485 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020

Summary

Electromagnetic shielding textiles are used to protect individuals or sensitive electronic devices against the harmful effects of electromagnetic waves in the surrounding environment. Today, the use of technological products is increasing rapidly due to the conveniences it provides to people's lives. Electromagnetic waves are known to have significant negative effects on sensitive devices, as well as humans. For this reason, electromagnetic wave protection methods have started to be developed. In the textile sector, efforts were made to develop products aimed at protecting against electromagnetic at protecting against electromagnetic waves. Different methods have been developed for this purpose. By coating with conductive substances; conductive textile surfaces can be obtained by using composite materials and conductive polymer materials or by incorporating conductive metals into the textile structure. It is not preferred because the products created by coating methods are less ergonomic than those created with conductive yarns. In this study, knitted fabrics with electromagnetic protection feature were developed using conductive threads. Electromagnetic screening efficiency characteristics of these knitted fabrics in different designs were compared. Such knitted fabrics are suitable for use in children's clothing, maternity clothing, daily clothing, as well as work clothes for people exposed to electromagnetic waves when the desired protective feature is provided. With this project, the company enters the field of protective technical textiles for the first time and products made of protective knitted fabrics against electromagnetic waves are developed in line with customer demands; domestic production of high value-added technical textile products has been ensured.
