Project no. 20216 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

Phthalocyanines are used as photoconductive agents in many areas of high technology, as an accelerator in photodynamic cancer treatment, as a chemical sensor in some medical applications, as a laser dye in electrochromic display devices, in read-write parts of computers and related information storage systems, as a photovoltaic cell material, in liquid crystal applications, and in the oxidation of olefins. It is used as a catalyst, increasing the octane number of gasoline, non-linear optics (NLO) and optical limiting (OL) materials. Starting from this point; Synthesis and characterization of 1,4-Bis(4-mercaptophenyl) benzene and phthalocyanines, oxidation - reduction potential measurements and density functional theory and energy measurements will be made.

It has been understood from the researches that sulphurous phthalocyanines containing benzene ring can be used as an electrolytic solution in electronic devices and especially in lithium-sulfur batteries. The most important features of lithium-sulfur batteries are; They are light, resistant to sudden temperature changes and crushing, can be charged many times, can be 100% discharged, have a long shelf life and have the least environmental impact. Therefore, it finds an important area of use in the defense industry, electric vehicles, smartphones and solar energy storage systems.

Synthesis of 1,4-Bis (4-mercaptophenyl) benzene (TPDT) starting material and Mercapto derivative phthalocyanine compounds containing three benzene rings, which are planned to be used, have not been found in the literature. It is thought that due to the structure of this substance, different types of Phthalocyanine will form and this will be more effective than compounds with stable structures such as the 18 pi electron system. When the usage areas of mercapto-benzene derivative compounds in the literature were investigated, their biological activities, electron transfer models in electronic devices and the use of lithium-sulfur batteries as electrolytic solutions attracted attention. Therefore, it is thought that new type phthalocyanine compounds synthesized from 1,4-Bis (4-mercaptophenyl) benzene (TPDT) compound will show better biological activity and electrochemical properties.
