Compare of digitall and conventional setup techniques in 3 dimension

Project no. 403 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018

Summary

Aim: Orthodontic setup is a restructuring process that allows planning the orthodontic treatment and predicting the results. It is applied with 2 different techniques as conventional setup applied by the physician in the laboratory environment and digital setup obtained by the software in the computer environment. The aim of this study is evaluate the difference between two setup methods by superimposing of each other. Material & Method: In our study, initial data were collected by handling 30 cases with orthodontic treatment needs. Digital setup was obtained by using orthodontic planning software (Ortho Analyzer ™, 3Shape, Denmark) on the digital model using by with the intraoral scanner device (Trios3 Cart ™, 3Shape, Denmark). Conventional setup was created by applying the relevant procedures on the dental cast. The conventional setup was transferred to the computer system by using the same scanner device. Two different digitalized data were superpose by using software. Conflict differences between the methods were evaluated. Results: We found a statistically significant overlap between the digital setup method and the conventional setup method. Average amount of overlap is %81.12 for upper teeth; %82.5 for lower teeth. (p?0.005) Conclusion : The digital setup method is effective and reliable as the conventional setup method. The problems such as loss of substance, longer application time and physical space occupation in plaster can be prevented by using of digital setup method. By means of practical application of the digital method, they can play a supporting role in the planning of orthodontic treatment within the clinical flow. We need more research of this method in literature.
