Determination of Boron (B) Nutrition Levels of Figs and Determination of the Effects of Boron Applications on Yield-Quality

Project no. 23041 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021

Summary

The fig variety in the experiment is Sarılop (Ficus carica L. cv. Sarılop), which has high economic value for Turkey. The experiment was carried out according to the randomized block experiment design, in three different boron applications for 2 years with 3 replications. Etidot-67 commercial name Na2B8O134H2O compound was used and the B application method (leaf, soil and leaf+soil) affected the nutritional level of the fig, fresh and to determine its effects on dried fruit quality. It was observed that the nutritional elements in the leaf (N, K, P, Ca, B, Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn) were in the sufficient group, whereas the Mg element was at a deficient level. Likewise, dried fruit was evaluated in terms of nutritional elements (N, K, P, Ca, Mg, B, Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn). The maximum shoot length was obtained from the B2+T (7.45 cm) application and the minimum shoot length was obtained from the B0 (6.45 cm) application. The maximum number of fruits on the shoot was determined in the B3+T (6.83 pieces) application and the minimum number of fruits in the B0 (5.03 pieces) application. Fresh fruit weight was found to be between 42.54-45.44 g in the 1st year and 41.19-44.63 g in the 2nd year. In general, B2+T (17.58%) application had the highest values and B0 (15.50%) application had the lowest brix values in fresh fruit. The highest brix value in fresh fruit was calculated in the B2+T application with 17.58%, and the smallest value was calculated in the B0 application with 15.50%. L* color value applications in fresh fruit generally lighten the color as the L* value increases, and the darker the color as the L* value decreases. It was observed that the green color tone was dominant as the a* value of the fruit color was (-) and the yellow color tone was dominant in terms of the b* color parameter. The highest dried fig yield value per tree was determined in the B1+T (33.47 kg) application and the smallest yield value was determined in the B0 (20.37 kg) application. The maximum brix value in dried fruit was in the B2+T (63.33%) application and the minimum was in the B0 (47.09%) application. In dried fruits, the L* value of the darkest colored fruits was determined as 48.11 and the L* value of the lightest colored fruits was determined as 63.71. Color a* value is 6.17-7.95 in the first year and 10.76-12.35 in the second year, b* color value is 26.81-32.98 in the first year and 30.87-33.56 in the second year was determined in the range. The effect of the applications on sugar fractions followed the order of glucose>fructose.

Keywords: Boron, brix, fig (Ficus carica L.), nutrient element, color parameters, sugar fractions, yield.
