Summary

The half-value thickness is defined as the thickness of the absorber material that is obtained from half value of the initial intensity. The values of half-value thicknesses obtained from standard calculations made with standard mathematical methods are may notnot be in agreement compatible with experimental ones. In this study, the incompatibility discrepancy between the experimental and se the standard values of the half-value-thicknessesvalues for some absorber materials are discussed. This incompatibility has been investigated with the help of the cumulative diminutionreductions/growths method. For this purposeIn the calculations, aluminum and , polyethylene absorber materials for beta particles;, absorbent concrete mortars with different properties for 59.5 keV energy gamma ray;, carboxylic acid coordinated C20H10O8.Zn.2H2O and C20H10O8.Cu.2H2O absorber absorber composite materials forin thehe gamma rays in the energy range of 81–1332 keV energy rangeand, and carboxylic acid coordinated C20H10O8.Cu.2H2O absorber composite materials in the 81–1332 keV energy rangepolymer composite absorber materials doped with Bi2(WO4)3(5%), Bi2(WO4)3(10%), Sn(5%) and Sn(10%) for the gamma rays in the energy range of 59.5-1408 keV have been using as absorber materials.were The discrepancy between the experimental and standard theoretical half-value thicknesses of the absorber materials has been resolved using the cumulative diminution/growths method. The q parameter in the cumulative diminution/growths method is associated with the thickness of the absorber materials and has been obtained in the range of 1≤q≤2, in parallel with other examples in the literature.
