Project no. 816 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
Objective: This study was aimed at investigating the effects of Web-based education on nursing students’ learning of the nursing process. Method: The study was conducted in Ege University Faculty of Nursing during the 2018-2019 academic year. The population of the study consisted of 90 students. Of them, 46 were assigned to the control group and 44 to the experimental group. To collect the study data, the Personal Information Form, Nursing Process Information Form, Visual Analogue Scale, Nursing Process Assessment Form and web-based Software Program were used. In the study, while the traditional classroom education method was used in the control group for teaching the nursing process, in the experimental group, web-based education was used in addition to the traditional classroom education. In the analysis of the study data, number and percentage distributions, chi-square test, and Mann-Whitney U test were used. Results: The mean age of the students participating in the study was 20.7 ± 2.25 in the experimental group and 20.7 ± 1.35 in the control group. The rate of the women participants was 77% in the experimental group and 89.1% in the control group. While 70.5% of the students in the experimental group thought that the training given to them on nursing process was adequate, the rate was 56.5% in the control group. Of the participants, 95.5% in the experimental group and 84.8% in the control group considered that the receiving training on nursing process was necessary. The results of the analysis demonstrated that the students in the experimental group were satisfied with the education method used in teaching the nursing process (p = 0.005) and their nursing process application skill scores were higher than were those of the students in the control group. On the other hand, there was no significant difference between the students in the experimental and control groups in terms of their self-confidence scores for the application of the nursing process (p = 0.441). Conclusion: At the end of the study, it was determined that Web-based education positively contributed to nursing students’ learning of the nursing process, that web-based education improved the nursing process preparation and application levels of the students in the experimental group more, and that the students in the experimental group who received web-based training were more satisfied with the training than were the students in the control group who received the traditional classroom education.
