Determination of IGF-II Gene Polymorphism and its Relationship with Growth Traits in European Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

Project no. 1047 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

In the study, 150 European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) that market length were grown at sea cages in Karaburun area of İzmir province. Genetic polymorphism was identified IGF-II gene consists of 900 base pairs covering the second exon and intron region and in the 374 base pair, which includes the third exon and the intron region in the seabass. The AT insertion/deletion and three SNPs (g.5127711C>G, g.5127731G>T, g.5127853G>T) were determined in the 900 base pairs including the second exon and intron region of the IGF-II gene. An SNP (g.5129188T>C) was observed in the 374 base pairs covering the third exon and intron region. In the IGF-II-NdeI locus, two different genotypes (GG, TG) were observed and the G allele was predominant (65%). Weight and height were statistically significant correlated with IGF-II-NdeI loci. In this study, it can be used a marker that SNP regions of IGF-II gene for growth characteristics in a MAS (Marker Assisted Selection) program for sea bass.
