EUPLOTES BREEDING CONDITIONS AND NUTRITIONAL CONTENTS TO BE USED IN NUTRITION OF NEW FISH SPECIES WITH SMALL MOUTH
Project no. 1156 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
In recent years, most of the aquaculture activities have focused on rearing of alternative fish species. The most important species are grouper, yellowtail and tuna. The mouth size of these specie larvae is very small compared to other species, and live feeds such as rotifer and artemia do not correspond to the mouth size of these new species in first feeding. Therefore, new live feed sources are needed. Ciliate species have advantages because they can be found in different sizes and can be stored more intensively. In our study, eupletes of ciliate species were isolated from rotifer culture of a marine fish hatchery and were stocked in 5 lt containers. Ciliates were fed with yeast, algae (nannochlorophsis), yeast + algae (nannochloropsis). The highest rate was 1286 ± 136 individual / ml in the yeast fed group on Day 6. In the algae fed group, 56 ± 12 individual/ml were detected in the algae group and 523 ± 78 individual / ml in the algae and yeast groups. Nutritional comparison of the samples could not analyse out because of the wet weights obtained in the experimental system were not able to reach the weight for make nutrient analyzes.
