A Study on Modelling Sock Welt Pressure with Various Production Parameters

Summary
<p>When it comes to socks, it is essential to consider pressure comfort, as well as thermal and sensory comfort. The pressure applied by the sock welt to the leg directly affects the wearer's comfort and, in some medical cases, their health. When the studies in the literature were examined, it was determined that the number of studies examining the pressure applied by the sock welt was quite limited. The destructive effect of repeated washing on textiles is well known. However, no comprehensive research has been found in the literature that examines the pressure changes of various sock welts with repeated washing.</p><p> </p><p>Within the scope of the project, sock welt samples with various tightness levels, welt heights, and elastane reinforcement were produced in fabric structures frequently used in the market. Pressure changes of the produced samples were examined after repeated laundry. Based on the collected data, equations that will help sock manufacturers estimate welt pressure before producing the socks have been obtained.</p><p><br></p>
