Phytochemical analysis of Polygala myrtifolia L.

Summary
<p>The leaves of Polygala myrtifolia used in this study were collected from Mersin province Mezitli district in August 2021. The DPPH test of the obtained methanol extract was performed with EGEMATAL service purchase. According to the DPPH test, the highest activity (81.40%) was in the extract at 2000µg/mL concentration, and the lowest activity (9.62%) was in the extract prepared at 50µg/mL concentration.</p><p> </p><p>Chromatotron, crystallization and precipitation methods were used for the isolation of compounds from apolar and polar extracts. As a result of our studies, 3 compounds were isolated. While the structures of two of the isolated compounds were elucidated using 1D -2D NMR and literature data, the structure of a compound could not be elucidated due to insufficient amount of substance.</p><p> </p><p>Compound 1 ( 1,5-anhydroglucitol ) and Compound 2 (Frutinone A) were isolated for the first time from the plant Polygala myrtifolia.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Polygala myrtifolia, secondary metabolites, antioxidant.</p>
