Özet
A flood risk index is developed for fast assessment of flood risks in urbanized watersheds. The Watershed Flood Risk Index (WFRI) defines the possible flood damage levels of watersheds, considering design floods, problems in drainage paths, and possible flood impacts. It aims to determine the flood risks of urbanized watersheds in a comparable manner, regarding watershed-specific conditions as well as infrastructural problems on drainage paths. This is valuable, especially for assessing/comparing the flood risks of watersheds with high municipal densities, making it possible to account for the hazard, exposure, and susceptibility aspects of flood risk for each watershed. Bodrum City/Türkiye is used as a test bed to rank 47 watersheds of ephemeral creeks based on their flood risks. Findings show that WFRI successfully determines the flood risks of Bodrum watersheds to prioritize them for earlier infrastructural investments, pointing to five watersheds which need urgent response with the critical risk value.
