Özet
Based on samples collected from the Sukhyi Estuary (Odesa Region, Ukraine), a new species of phototrophic thecate dinoflagellate, Kryptoperidinium terenkoviae Terenko, Krachmalny, Chomerat & Yurga sp. nov. (Dinophyceae, Peridiniales, Kryptoperidiniaceae), is described. Cells of K. terenkoviae are oval to subquadrate, dorsoventrally compressed, with a concave ventral side, measuring 29.4-32.4 μm in length and 28.8-32.2 μm in width. A distinctive feature of the new species is the presence of two crests located on the epitheca. The first crest is formed by a very narrow 7" plate, and the second by a 4' plate. The apical pore is slit-like, oriented dorsoventrally, and partially covered by a lobe of plate 4'. The first apical plate (1') is large, asymmetrical, and displaced toward the right side of the epitheca; two anterior intercalary plates (la-2a) are present. The cingulum is median and circular. The sulcus is wide and shallow. A relatively large sulcal plate Sa extends onto the epitheca, and plates Sd and Sp are well developed. The flagellar pores are covered by a list (sl) formed by plate Sd. The thecal plate formula is: Po, x, 4', 2a, 7", 5C, 4S?, 5''', 2''''. The species was recorded in the water column near the bottom, at depths of 0.3-0.5 m in the coastal zone. Additionally, a new taxonomic combination, Kryptoperidinium triquetrum var. ponticum (Roukhiyajnen) Terenko, Krachmalny. Chomérat & Yurga comb. nov. is proposed.
