Özet

In this study, power take off (PTO) driven agricultural machinery, especially the ones exposing intensive noise to the environment were selected. The objective of this study was to determine the noise level produced by some PTO driven agricultural machinery, to find out the causes that results from the manufacturing and from the users and to make some recommendations in order to take the control measures or necessary precautions to prevent or to reduce it. In the study, some PTO driven agricultural machinery were selected such as row crop rotary cultivator, rototiller, twin-disc fertilizer broadcaster, vacuum type precision driller, air assisted sprayer, forage harvester and stone collector. The noise level from these machinery at optimum operating traveling speeds was measured at driver’s hearing position and at some surrounding spots of the machinery. From the results of the study it was found that the highest noise level occurred when the stone collector and forage harvester were used and it was found to be 95.6 dB(A). On the other hand the lowest noise level was measured to be 88.4 dB(A) from twin-disc fertilizer broadcaster use. The noise level at the surroundings spots of the machinery was found to be as high as 91.2 dB(A) from forage harvester and as low as 71.4 dB(A) when a twin-disc fertilizer broadcaster was operated. The noise levels were especially high at the driver’s hearing position. The results from this study indicated that the solution to this problem can be the make use of driver cabinets and the use of ear plugs. If these precautions can not be taken, then the use of agricultural machinery for farming activities within the hours allowed according to the noise regulation is recommended.
