Summary

This chapter explores how the Reggio Emilia approach can be embedded within a human rights-based framework to strengthen the realization of children's rights in education. It focuses particularly on children's right to express their views, develop 21st-century competencies, and participate actively in their communities. Drawing on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), the chapter argues that teacher education must transcend theoretical awareness and cultivate practical, participatory pedagogies that empower both teachers and children as rights-holders. To this end, a practice-oriented workshop model is proposed, introducing prospective teachers to the Reggio Emilia philosophy through experiential learning. By engaging pre-service teachers in experiential workshops inspired by Reggio Emilia, it aims to prepare a new generation of educators who embody human rights values in their daily teaching, creating inclusive, democratic learning environments where every child's voice is seen as a catalyst for transformation.
