Summary
Real-time monitoring of pet health, particularly for dogs, is essential for both animals and their caregivers. This research proposes the design of wearable technology enabling dog owners to monitor parameters such as pulse, body temperature, and real-time location. Based on a comprehensive literature review, a model suitable for small and medium-sized dogs was selected and consistent with universal design principles, a jacket was developed as the wearable component. To address the identified requirements, sensors were selected and integrated into the jacket in accordance with open innovation and design principles, allowing for future development in collaboration with research communities. A mobile application was also developed to enable pet owners to monitor data, including pulse, body temperature, and heart rate. The application incorporates the m-health model, supporting the tracking of additional information such as vaccination schedules and allergy status. Data collected by the application, such as pulse, body temperature, and heart rate, can support decision-making process of veterinary and pet healthare. This research is expected to enhance the quality of life for small and medium-sized dog breeds and facilitate care for their owners.
