Özet
The purpose of this study was to evaluate lime mortars used in restoration and to investigate the relationship between cultural heritage preservation and development through all aspects of sustainability. Domestic and international databases from a variety of fields— cultural heritage, economics, tourism, and materials science—were examined throughout the research process. It was shown that how sustainability and preservation are inextricably linked and how this relationship can be portrayed both conceptually and practically in the case of lime mortars. Since it is well known that chemical additives are used to enhance the qualities of lime mortars currently used in restoration, a model proposal is put forth that can combine modern methods, traditional material culture, and current restoration techniques to counteract the unpredictable effects of these chemical additives.
