Özet
Selectivity of multifilament gill nets used in Round Sardinella (Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847) in Izmir Bay.This study was conducted between 1 September 2001 and 31 March 2002 in order to establish the selectivity of multifilament gill nets used to catch Round Sardinella (Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847) in İzmir Bay.Mesh sizes (bar lengths ) of the nets employed in the study 20, 21, 22 and 23 mm.The gill nets were combined end-to-end and set simultaneously at the same site. The twine width of the gill nets in 210d/3 no, and its hanging ratio, E= 0.67.Selectivity parameters were estimated using the indirect method proposed by Holt (1963).The size range of fish caught was 14,1-21.5 cm.The optimum catch lengths of S. aurita in 20, 21, 22 and 23 mm mesh size were 16.36, 17.17, 17.99 and 18.81 cm, respectively.Estimated values od common selection factor and standard deviation were 8.18 and 1,226, respectively.
