Özet

Determining the Most Available Spirulina platensis (Stiz.) Geitl, Strain for Outdoor Cultures in the Climatic Conditions of the Aegean Region of Turkey. In this study, 3 different strains of Spirulina platensis, which has been used in food, medicine, and cosmetic industry is an algae grown commercially in the world, were; S. platensis-Tulear strain (Madagascar) Africa, S.platensis-Parachas variety (Peru) South America, S. platensis-M2 variety (Chad) Africa. These strains were cultured in outdoor tanks in the period of May and November 1998 .Their growing terms till harvesting, resistance against passing to the mortality phase and contamination, their harvesting facilities have been compared. At the end of the study it was determined that M2 strain had shown the best growth and resistance.Although Chlorella was seen the most obvious organism which caused contamination in Spirulina cultures, it was determined that the M2 strain was the most resistant one against Chlorella contamination. In addition, when compared to others, M2 was the most termotolerant strain and the one which would adapt best to the climatic conditions of the Aegean Region of Turkey.M2 was followed by the Parachas strain and Tulear was found to be the weakest.
