Summary

Abstract The growth and protein synthesis of Sporotrichum pulverulentum was studied in shake flask cultures using orange waste as carbon source. The influence of factors such as nitrogen source, initial pH, incubation time and temperature were investigated, ammonium sulphate being the best source of supplementary nitrogen. Biomass containing about 31.9% protein was obtained with a medium pH of 5.0 in 4 days incubation.
