Özet
The genus Centaurea is represented by 187 species in the flora of Turkey [1]. Centaurea ensiformis is a Mediterranean endemic species localized in Mugla, South West Anatolia. In continuation of our phytochemical studies on Centaurea species, here we report on the constituents of C. ensiformis , which has not been investigated before. Methanol extract of the aerial parts (15g) was partitioned with n-butanol. Butanolic extract was fractionated by using chromotographic methods (CC-sephadex, silica, VLC-RP-18, and preparative TLC). In addition to known compounds scopolin, picein, syringin and (3S, 5R, 6R,7E,9S)-megastigman-7-ene-3,5,6,9-tetrol 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, a new neolignan glycoside was also isolated (1). The structure elucidation of the compounds was achived by one and two dimensional NMR techniques and high resolution mass spectrometry. References: 1. Davis, P.H., Mill, R.R.
