Özet

This study aims to address the complexities involved in managing endodontic treatment for calcified root canals. The study includes four patients requiring endodontic treatment for teeth with calcified root canals. Patient 1: A 60-year-old female patient was referred to the endodontic department for fiber post applications on teeth #32, 33, and 42 due to inadequate crown length. Clinical examination revealed delayed vital responses in electric pulp testing, and no sensitivity to percussion tests. Root canals of teeth were located using the DG-16 probe. After two sessions of root canal therapy, fiber posts were placed. Patient 2 and 3: Both patients’ teeth showed non-vital responses in electric pulp testing and were sensitive to percussion. Access cavities were prepared, and root canals of teeth #14 and #46 were located using the DG-16 probe. Treatments were completed in two sessions. Patient 4: A 55-year-old male patient was referred to endodontic department to undergo endodontic retreatment on tooth #16. Tooth was sensitive to percussion. Radiographic examination revealed inadequate previous root canal treatment. Root filling was removed in the first session, and treatment was completed in three sessions. At the 1.5-year follow-up for patients 1, 2, and 3 and 1-year follow-up for patient 4, teeth were asymptomatic and functional. No periapical lesion was detected on radiographs. Treating teeth with calcified root canals poses various challenges in endodontic therapy. Therefore, utilizing magnification and illumination is crucial to minimize coronal material loss or perforations, ensuring optimal case management and long-term treatment success.
