Özet

The coronavirus disease COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) has become a global health problem around the world. Because the symptoms are in a wide range – from no symptoms to hospitalization – accurate, rapid, sensitive, and early diagnosis of COVID-19 is crucial. Rapid and sensitive diagnosis of the disease provides rapid attitude for protection of public health and control of contagious spread. Clinicians and researchers provided different diagnostic methods for developing appropriate strategies for effective detection of SARS-CoV-2. In general, these detection methods can be carried out via direct detection and indirect detection of viruses, such as detection of viral RNA/DNA or detection of antibody production. The aforementioned detection strategies can be applied to electrochemical sensors with high selectivity, sensitivity, and multimode sensing properties. This chapter summarizes the development of electrochemical biosensors for coronavirus detection.
