Objective: The aim of the study is to determine gender role stress and attitudes of senior students in nursing and communication faculties. Material and Method: The analytic study was conducted in a descriptive design. The study sample was composed of senior students attending the faculties of nursing and communication of a university in Izmir. The study was completed with a total of 195 students using stratified sampling and random sampling methods. In data collection, the Individual Description Form, Gender Role Attitude Scale (GRAS), Female Gender Role Stress Scale (FGRSS) and Male Gender Role Stress Scale (MGRSS) was used. Results: The mean age of the students was 23.36±2.41 years and 40.5% of them were in the nursing department. The female gender role and male gender role scores were significantly higher in the communication faculty students compared to the nursing faculty students (p<0.05). The total FGRSS and GRAS and all subscales were significantly correlated in the female nursing students in a positive direction (p<0.05), whereas the MGRSS and GRAS were not significantly correlated in the male students (p>0.05). The total FGRSS and GRAS and the female-traditional-male gender role subscales were significantly correlated in the female communication students (p<0.05), whereas in the male students the MGRSS was only significantly correlated with the GRAS male gender role subscale in a positive direction (p<0.05). Conclusion: The students had higher gender role stress; however, they had an equalitarian attitude. The scores were higher in the females compared to the males, in the communication faculty students compared to the nursing faculty students.
