Özet
This study asks, “Should every activism movement taking place in the digital space be considered under the concept of digital activism?” It is a compilation study shaped by the question. In line with this question, developments in communication technologies ranging from the first network experiences to social media platforms were examined. First of all, the concept of activism, which emerged in the direction of new social movements, was emphasized. The change experienced by the concept of activism with the internet has been discussed. The concept of digital activism and social media activism that emerged with this change were defined. Activism movements that took place in the change process of communication technologies were evaluated by considering the concept of digital activism and social media activism. According to the evaluation, it was concluded that there may be differentiation between concepts according to the level of reflection and influence on the society of activism movements in the digital field.
