and spleno-megaly in 50%.Only 1 patient presented diabetes as extrahe-patic associated disease.However,50% of relatives presented autoimmune diseases.Lab data:median ALT:221IU/L(R: 17-2800); PT:median:70%(R:20-96%) gammaglobulin:median:2.99% (R:1.1-3.95).All children were antiLKM1 +ve.Histological data:mild chronic active hepatitis(CAH)in 61.5%, moderate: 7.7%,severe:23% and cirrhosis 7.7%.Sixteen patients were treated with prednisone plus azatioprine, one died in the preTx era and the other underwent liver Tx.Forty percent patients normalized ALT values at two months and all at one year after starting immunosuppression.Only 4 patients had prolonged prothrombine time and normalized it one month after therapy.Clinical and biochemical response in 82.6%.Conclusion: AIH type2 represent a low percentage(11%)of AIH in children in our center(similar results that other groups in our coun-try).Predominate in females.Acute hepatitis like syndrome is the most common presentation.Mild CAH is the more fre-quent histological pattern.High rate of remission with treatment. Our results are somehow different of other publi-shed series in relation with age of initial symptoms, low frequency of aggressive histologic findings and associated autoimmune extrahepatic manifestations.
