Özet

Conductive yarns or fabrics are increasingly used in protective applications such as monitoring physiological parameters or active warming clothing in the health, sports, and military fields. In recent years, various studies have been carried out on the performance and production of conductive yarns and fabrics to develop heating products for special conditions or daily applications. It is clear that with the use of heating textiles, it is possible to control body temperature and ensure comfort conditions for humans in extremely cold conditions. Heating textiles can be obtained by either adding an electronic mechanism to manufactured fabric or using conductive yarns during the production of fabrics. The first method has some disadvantages such as more weight, a more rigid structure, and physiological and thermoregulatory discomfort. Recently, conductive yarns, which have the characteristics of textile yarns, are generally integrated directly into fabrics during production.

This chapter aims to develop and compare two different electro-textile-based heating fabric structures that can be used to protect the body functions of people in extremely cold environmental conditions. Heater fabrics were produced using the conductive yarn at certain courses of interlock and three-thread fleece fabrics. It is possible to reach the targeted heating level, by changing the settlement of the conductive yarns in fabrics. The dimensional values, heating performance, and thermal comfort properties of developed fabric structures were measured and evaluated. When whole characteristics of the two types of fabrics are compared, it is seen that the interlock fabric structure developed in this chapter has higher conductive heating performances besides lower fabric density and weight, higher thickness, higher air permeability, thermal resistance, and water vapor resistance values. The heating fabric developed within the study is expected to contribute to the state-of-the-art technology with high conductive heating performance besides being suitable for mass production and easy assembly of the circuit.
