Özet
Television has been able to update itself with its adaptation to today's technologies and has become one of the important communication tools of societies. While television appealed to the general audience with short-term broadcasts in its early years, it became specialized with technical developments and thematic broadcasting examples emerged. For this reason, the scope of the study includes thematic children's channels broadcasting via satellite. In the absence of modern communication channels, societies transmitted their knowledge, skills, and experiences to the next generation through both oral and written means of communication, whereas today, thematic channels have become one of the tools through which this transfer is made. In addition, this type of broadcasting has not only provided transmission to generations within the same culture; it has also become one of the channels through which multinational companies developed in their fields carry their own cultures to the international arena. For this reason, this study aims to reach codes related to the construction of representations of Turkish culture in thematic children's channels. The research is important because a total of 12 programs on four children's channels have not been examined before. In the study, the programs in the morning-afternoon-evening generations of TRT Çocuk, Minika Çocuk, Boomerang, and Cartoon Network channels broadcasting via satellite were selected as the sample group. The elements of Turkish culture in the representations and whether positive representations were made or not were analyzed by qualitative content analysis. As a result, after the determination of the programs, the construction of representations of cultures will be discussed.
