The goal of this paper is to identify the most efficient guest file system for hypervisor-based Linux environments. To achieve this, we selected Filebench benchmark software to test all file systems in equal conditions. Filebench is a benchmarking tool that simulates different file system workloads to measure performance, providing a controlled environment to ensure fair and consistent results across diverse hardware and OS configurations. We used Proxmox as the hypervisor and Oracle Linux 9.4 as the guest operating system. Performances are measured by testing different type workloads. For instance, Filebench can simulate a file system as if it is a web server or a file server. The results are compared by the outcome of testing each file system with various workloads.
