Özet

The development of information and communication technologies and their presence as a vital necessity in every aspect of human life have a significant impact on the perception of reality. In particular, the rapid spread and uncontrolled circulation of information on social media networks facilitates the global dissemination of unverified information and makes corrections more difficult. This situation affects personal and societal perceptions and decision-making, creating a breeding ground for potential manipulation. Disinformation processes enable both the dissemination of false and unfounded information and the use of deliberately created content, such as text and visuals, within the context of perception management. Misleading content produced in fields such as economics, politics, health, and education can create fear, anxiety, and distrust in individuals and society towards any person, topic, product, or situation. This study examines disinformation and societal perception in the digital age. Within the scope of this conceptual study, a detailed assessment of information, trust, and manipulation is conducted, and recommendations are offered at both individual and institutional levels.

Keywords: Disinformation, Digital Disinformation, Public Perception, Manipulation.
