Summary
<p>One of the scientific outputs of the project named “The New System Microtonal Clarinet Mouthpiece/ Barrel and Sliding Thumb-Rest Project” funded by Yaşar University Scientific Research Project (SRP) is the subject of the production of microtonal clarinet barrel, a system that can be extended and shortened during the performance of the clarinet instrument. Within the scope of the project, the prototype has been produced and within the mechanism inside the product, high notes and low notes can easily played without interruption during execution. It has been able to obtain all the coma sounds from B flat and A clarinet used in western music with the subject of the invention. Thus, it has made these clarinets more useful and ergonomic in maqam music, especially in Turkish music. The National Patent Application of the product named Microtonal Clarinet Barrel” was filed on 22.08.2019 with the number 2019/12692. The connection is established with the company for the licensed manufacturer of the product. The second product of the article named “Sliding Thumb-Rest” is an innovation in which the right hand, which provides the sounds to be obtained, as well as holding the instrument during the performance, makes it move 360 degrees instead of standing as it is customary. All similar products are currently imported and we are addicted abroad in this regard. Within the scope of this project, both an innovation in terms of movable mechanism and the emergence of a product that can be exported through domestic production have been introduced.</p>
