Özet

Within the scope of this project, Cymodocea nodosa, a seagrass species commonly seen on the coasts of Izmir Bay, was used as research material. In this study, the exposure of organisms living in the marine environment to radionuclide and trace element pollution was investigated. 232Th, 238U, 40K, and trace elements were examined together in sediment samples taken from selected stations in Izmir Bay, revealing differences in concentration changes between stations. C. nodosa samples, as well as sediment, were collected simultaneously from the same stations. Concentrations of 232Th, 238U, 40K, and trace elements were determined. The transfer rate (transfer factor) from sediment to seagrass was calculated for each radionuclide and trace element. All data obtained and the relationship between them were evaluated using statistical methods. Environmental pollution studies aim to identify, assess, prevent, and mitigate existing problems. By determining the current problem, its level, and associated risks, we aim to create a comprehensive inventory.
