Summary

Necropolis areas were unearthed on the northern side of Ören/Keramos during the Milas TKİ (Türkiye Kömür İşletmeleri/Turkish Coal Enterprises) rescue excavations. In the second phase of these excavations (2009-2011), graves from the Geometric period (mainly Late Geometric) were found in the villages of Çakıralan (Belentepe) and Hüsamlar (Mengefe and Bakırlı). It is possible to classify the graves of this period under six different types: 1) simple urn graves, 2) pit burials, 3) stone-built graves, 4) stone-built graves with dromos, 5) chamber tombs with dromos, 6) monumental tombs.
