Summary

The objective of this work was to determine the effects of some organic amendments using in organic agriculture on the soil microbial biomass and enzyme activity in soil under winter vegetable. In this field experiment, three organic amendments (Biofarm, Leonardit and Humic acid) and four vegetables (cos lettuce, carrot, rocket and parsley) were used. Vegetables were managed by organic and conventional organic farming systems. The research objects were Biofarm, Biofarm+Leonardit, Biofarm+Humic acid and conventional agriculture. Soil samples were taken twice during the experiment. In these soil samples, microbial biomass and activities of dehydrogenase, ß-glucosidase, protease and alkaline phosphatase were analyzed. The effect of organic amendments and plant species on microbial biomass and all enzyme activity were significant at the level of 1 %. Biofarm applications highly increased amount of microbial biomass and enzyme activities. Application of Biofarm increased microbial biomass average % 77, dehydrogenase 175 %, ßglucosidase 55 %, alkaline phosphatase 44 % and protease 69 %, compared to conventional soil. The additional effect of Leonardite and humic acid on microbial biomass and enzyme activity could not be found.
