Summary
Investigation of dislocation structures by transmission electron microscopy in the aluminium-rich Ni3(Al, Ta) and Ni3(Al, Hf) intermetallic phases shows the presence of dislocations close to the〈111〉 crystallographic direction, in addition to the dislocations along the 〈110〉 direction. The{110} and/or{112} planes are suggested to be the possible slip planes for the 〈111〉 type dislocations, assuming that the dislocations have the b = a[110] type Burgers vector. Dislocations at low temperatures are mainly straight and parallel to each other. However, at high temperatures dislocations lose their straightness. Two distinct dipoles are observed at low temperatures, namely〈111〉 and 〈110〉 oriented dislocations. Formation of dipoles and jogs is investigated also.
