Özet

This study investigated the meat yield, condition index, and gonad index of Pinctada radiata and examined their monthly responses to environmental parameters, including water temperature, salinity, chlorophyll a, and total particulate matter (TPM). Each month, 30 pearl oysters of similar sizes were sampled over a one-year period. Water temperature ranged from 11 °C in January to 28.6 °C in September, while chlorophyll a concentrations varied from 0.510 μg L −1 in April to 7.759 μg L −1 in October. TPM levels ranged between 5.16 and 20.85 mg L −1 . The lowest mean meat yield was recorded in September [16.45% (SD 0.45%)], whereas the highest occurred in May [24.17% (SD 0.60%)]. Similarly, condition index values were lowest in October [5.91% (SD 0.22%)] and peaked in May [12.07% (SD 0.52%)]. Monthly variations in meat yield and condition index were statistically significant ( P < 0.05). Gonad index values indicated increased reproductive activity between June and September. Relationships between environmental parameters and biological indices were evaluated using Pearson correlation analysis. Although significant associations were detected, no causal inferences were drawn, as the study was observational.
