Özet
Along with the prolongation of life expectancy, the proportion of the elderly population has also increased in recent years. Physiological changes that occur with aging are risk factors for various diseases. As in all systems, changes occur in the hematological system with aging. Changes in the hematological system and the decrease in the production of blood cells have led to an increase in blood transfusion applications. The increase in transfusion rate has increased the incidence of transfusion-related reactions and made effective nursing care mandatory In this review, it is aimed to explain nursing care regarding the causes, indications and complications of transfusion in elderly individuals.
