Özet

The multi-pond coastal solar salterns, consist of a series of

conjunctive saltponds, with a gradient of salinities ranging from

seawater to NaCl precipitation. The region was an anthropogenic

supralittoral zone exploited for sea salt, which is progressively

concentrated by evaporation. Solar salt works activities are normally

ordinarily in wetlands, more specifically in salt swamps, which are

rich in biodiversity and represent a disturbing biological systems

which make them environmentally relevant. Many species live, feed and

reproduce in a salt marsh and in a solar salt works area. They

provide biological diversity, including bacteria, macro and

microalgae, Artemia, plants, birds, reptiles, fish and invertebrates

and contribute to flood prevention and improved water management. In

this study, some biological characteristics of Çamaltı marine

salterns were investigated, which is the largest marine coastal solar

saltworks in Turkey investigated.

Keywords: İzmir, Turkey, Saltworks, Biological Characteristics,

Artemia, Algae, Çamaltı

NOTE
