Investigations on the growth and condition factor of the Round Sardinella (Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847) distributed in the Bay of Izmir (Aegean Sea).In this study, total 323 fish are obtained during the area researches between the dates November 1997 and October 1998 to examine the biologic peculiarities of the population of S. aurita which is found in Izmir Bay.In this pointed the fish which was examined presented the age group I-III.Females and males constitute 52.63% and 47.37% of the population respectively. It is found that in S. aurita minimum and maximum fork length is 13.00-21.40cm; in the examination of weight minimum and maximum which are found as 30.06-130.70 g The von Bertalanffy growth formula was estimated for males (L ∞ = 26.08 cm, k= 0.543, t 0 = -0.681;W ∞ = 148.18g), females (L ∞ = 23.93 cm, k= 0.490, t 0 = -0.490;W ∞ = 134.80g) and the sexes combined (L ∞ = 25.68 cm, k= 0.507, t 0 = -0.740;W ∞ = 150.12g).Length-weight relationship was calculated as W= 0.0068* L 3.2293 (r=0.91) and avarage condition factor has calculated as K= 1.470 for all individuals.
