Özet
This article addresses the concept of environmental security within the framework of new security approaches. The study will examine key environmental approaches, the scope and dimensions of environmental threats, their relationship with globalization, as well as the origins, conceptual development, and dimensions of environmental security. Environmental threats directly affect national and global security by triggering migration, social instability, and conflicts, thereby threatening economic and political balances. In this context, the concept of environmental security has evolved beyond being merely an element of national security strategies and has become a fundamental security issue that impacts societies and actors on a global scale. The study highlights that environmental security is an integral part of ecological, human, and social security. In this regard, the global nature of environmental threats requires international cooperation and the development of multilateral strategies. Environmental security has thus become a critical element not only for ecological protection but also for safeguarding social and global peace.
